If you build it, they will come...RW Builds a Road

Posted By: mattw

The saying, if you build it, they will come, synonymous with the 1989 movie Field of Dreams is what we also hope for today. The new road from the entrance to the property to our doorstep is now complete. We hope that this draws in more classic car enthusiasts, and their cars, to our classic car barn.

For many years we have been driving down the Sky Meadows Lane gravel road to make our way to work. Customers with beautiful cars have also suffered the wrath of potholes and dust kickup as they make their way into the shop.

It wasn't easy and it wasn't cheap, but now that it is complete it has transformed our lives here at the property. Test drives can be done on private property, very little dust enters the shop, but most importantly, it is keeping customer cars clean and pristine.

Hope to see you all driving down the new road soon.

Big thanks to Lakeside Industries for laying the pavement, Dave Remlinger for working with us on this one and all the guys at the shop for pitching in.

It's about a mile to the entrance from our property to the main roadway. The road is about 20 feet wide and 4 inches thick.

Big machinery helps when a big job needs to get done.

Lakeside industries paving equipment gets the job done fast. Only takes a day to pave a mile.

Roll it on tight, in order to keep the pavement in top shape it has to be compressed.

The classics can't wait to get out of the barn and onto the new asphault.

Caleb Simpson and Jon Wardwell watch in excitement as the paving in front of the shop is completed.

The Fiat waits for work as the pavement is carefully laid in front of the barn.

About 100 truck loads of material were delivered.

Sure looks nice, blue skies and black pavement.

Caleb Simpson packs down the edges with material so that the pavement will not crack.

Jon Wardwell moves some debris on the new road.

Jesse Rumens smiles after all the hard work. He spent a lot of time preparing before the pavers came to do the final leg.
